Job Function:
•    To promote, facilitate and coordinate applied leprosy research in TLM India. (The research undertaken ranges from laboratory based basic sciences research particularly in the field of immunology and hospital based medical, epidemiological and social sciences).
•    Capacity building of TLMTI staff in research activities.
•    Travel to all TLMTI centres/projects for training and supervision.

Qualification:
•    Post-Graduate Medical Specialist or a Post-Doctoral Scientist from the field of the life sciences. A degree in epidemiology or public health will be considered an advantage.
•    The candidate should have strong computer skills in MS Office applications and preferably epidemiological and/or statistical software such as Epi Info, Stata or SPSS.  

•    Minimum 05 years experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods, preferably in health sector.
•    Proven scientific track record, as evidenced by publications in recognised peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations given at scientific conferences.
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Analytical and project management skills.
•    Interpersonal relation building skills.

Head - Stanley Browne Laboratory  » Qualification : MD or Ph D in life Sciences (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or Immunology)
Desired Candidate Profile : Minimum 10 years of research experience in mycobacterial diseases.
Evidenced by published papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals is essential
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Lab and Research
1. Carry research in molecular epidemiology of leprosy.
2. Study environmental mycobacterium leprae and transmission link; Pathogenesis of leprosy reaction and drug resistance in leprosy.
3. Interact with the other research laboratories, funding agencies, WHO and such other national and international organizations for exchange of scientific information and also attract funds for research.
4. Conceive and develop research proposals in line with the Vision and Mission of TLMTI.
5. Encourage research publications and presentations based on research data of the Lab.
Administration
1. Define the structure, recruitment, work allocation and training of laboratory staff in line with TLMTI guidelines.
2. Approve purchase of material required for the Lab.
3. Ensure effective and continuous performance of equipments / gadgets of the Lab.
4. Supervise the allocated budget of the Lab and monitor fund flow.
5. Supervise and guide PhD /M.Phil Research students and organize training programs.
