The Mission provides financial, technical and
logistical support to these partners to ensure
holistic healthcare of patients.
Schieffelin Leprosy Research & Training
Centre, Karigiri (Tamil Nadu)
A well-equipped training centre, it has removal of the stigma attached to leprosy as one of its main concerns. Research is an integral part of the Centre and everyone at the Centre is encouraged to actively engage in it. Some of the research work include: "Longitudinal Study of Ocular Leprosy', and 'Multicentric Study of Prednisolone Therapy in Type 1 Reaction'.
St Luke's Leprosarium, Peikulam, (Tamil Nadu)
St Luke's Leprosarium, Peikulam, (Tamil Nadu) is a unit of the Tirunelveli Diocesan Trust Association (TDTA) of the Church of South India established in 1954. A referral hospital, it covers a population of 1.5 million in the Thoothukudi district with a prevalence of 5.7/10,000 and disability rate of 21%.The main focus of the centre is to detect the hidden cases, reduce recurrence of plantar ulcers, and to dispel misconception about leprosy through health education.Over the years, it has created endowment funds to support activities concerning the leprosy affected.
Christian Medical College, Vellore (Tamil Nadu)
Apart from providing full medical services to patients, it also undertakes educational programs. The India Today rated CMC, Vellore as the best medical college in India. Graduate and post graduate courses and M.Phil programmes are provided by the hospital. They also provide specialized Leprosy care, Reconstructive surgeries, specialized footwear and rehabilitation. Clinical Research is their major strength.
MESH (New Delhi)
MESH (New Delhi) an acronym for Maximising Employment to Serve the Handicapped, began its activities in 1984, at a Leprosy village called Bethany, North of Delhi. MESH's export clients include TLM Trading in Peterborough, UK.The services MESH provides to the disabled artisans with whom it works include marketing, product development, linking artisans to training opportunities, new technologies and source of raw materials. When necessary MESH assists with costing and pricing and any other support that is requested.
CARWE Children's Academy and Home (Uttar Pradesh)
The home caters to the needs of the poor and destitute children of leprosy affected patients. CARWE at present provides a home to 116 children. The children at the institution are provided boarding and educational facilities.
BCM Hospital, St Francis Leprosy Centre, Sitapur (Uttar Pradesh)
BCM Hospital, St Francis Leprosy Centre, Sitapur (Uttar Pradesh) is a general hospital providing comprehensive healthcare services, which include general surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology and obstetrics, orthopaedics, dermatology, psychiatry, ultrasonology and community health.
Mayurbhanj Leprosy Home (Orissa)
Started in 1895, it is located at the border of Bengal and Bihar in the state of Orissa. There are long term patients in the home. In the two outpatients clinics of Baripada and Rairangpur, 185 patients were given MDT, food and clothing.A literacy programme is ongoing. The hospital also provides facility for Occupational Therapy and undertakes rehabilitation programmes.
